The ECB Tackling Climate Change Fund (TCCF) is helping cricket clubs across Derbyshire become more sustainable, resilient and environmentally responsible.
In 2026, the fund delivered £57,174 of investment to support projects focused on reducing energy consumption, improving water management and helping clubs adapt to the growing impacts of climate change.
The funding has enabled clubs to invest in a range of sustainability measures, including energy-efficient heating systems, double glazing, modern low-energy appliances, rainwater harvesting equipment, water storage and irrigation systems, and battery-powered grounds maintenance equipment.
These projects are expected to deliver long-term benefits by:
- Reducing energy costs
- Lowering carbon emissions
- Improving water efficiency
- Increasing resilience to drought and extreme weather
- Creating more sustainable community facilities
The investment demonstrates how grassroots cricket can play an important role in addressing environmental challenges while strengthening facilities for current and future generations.
As climate change continues to impact sport and community facilities, initiatives such as the ECB Tackling Climate Change Fund provide valuable support, helping clubs take practical steps towards a greener and more sustainable future.
