This winter, we have delivered our first-ever Women's Introduction to Hardball sessions across Derbyshire!
These sessions have provided players 14+ with the opportunity to try hardball cricket for the first time or further develop skills alongside our experienced coaches. Sessions focused on building confidence with a hardball and working on technical areas of the game to improve successful outcomes.
In November 2025, we delivered the courses at Marple High School for clubs in the High Peak of Derbyshire to access. We followed this with a course at Landau Forte College in Derby during January and February 2026. Across both of these courses, we have worked with over 30 women and girls, and we are already seeing them continue to get involved in their clubs' hardball sessions in preparation for the upcoming season.
Lauren Tuffrey, Women's & Girls' Development Officer, said:
We know that lots of women want more opportunities to play, practice and develop their cricket outside of the traditional summer season, which is exactly what our Softball Falcons programme is designed to provide.
You don't need to be an experienced player to come along. We want these sessions to be welcoming, enjoyable and supportive, giving every player the opportunity to develop at their own pace.
Whether you want to improve a particular area of your game, build your confidence or simply enjoy some more cricket over the winter, we'd love to have you involved!
