Discover where a career in sport could take you.
Derbyshire Cricket Foundation is offering students the opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience through our structured Work Experience Programme.
A placement with DCF is about much more than watching cricket. Throughout the week, students will get an insight into how a community sports charity operates and the wide range of careers that exist within the sporting and charity sectors.
During a week with Derbyshire Cricket Foundation, students may have the opportunity to experience areas including:
Every placement will be slightly different, allowing us to take account of each student's interests and learning objectives.
Students will receive a Work Experience Booklet to complete throughout their placement.
The week will include an introduction to DCF and its work, opportunities to meet members of the team, practical experience, observation of programmes and activities, and time to reflect on the skills and knowledge they have developed.
Students will also be given a small project to complete during the week, culminating in a short presentation on their final day.
Our aim is to help students understand what it is really like to work in sport and the community sector while developing valuable employability skills.
Students will have opportunities to develop:
Communication – working with staff, participants and partners.
Teamwork – contributing to activities and working as part of a team.
Confidence – asking questions, getting involved and presenting ideas.
Organisation – understanding how programmes and events are planned and delivered.
Problem solving – thinking about challenges and suggesting solutions.
Professionalism – understanding workplace expectations and responsibilities.
Our work experience pathway is designed to be straightforward.
The programme is aimed at students looking to gain meaningful work experience and explore potential careers in sport (particularly cricket), community development, education, events, marketing, fundraising and related areas.
We particularly welcome students who are enthusiastic about cricket/sport, curious and willing to get involved.
You don't need to be a top-level cricketer to apply.
What matters is having an interest in sport, people, communities and learning about how a charity such as Derbyshire Cricket Foundation creates positive change.
If you would like to explore a work experience placement with Derbyshire Cricket Foundation, apply now by completing our Work Experience Expression of Interest Form.
We will then review your application and may ask for an informal conversation to discuss your interests and how we can make your placement a valuable experience.

Whether your future lies in coaching, community development, events, marketing, fundraising, education or another area of sport, we want to help you understand the opportunities available and give you the confidence to take your next step.
