James Colton

Cricket Development Manager - Young People

My Job Role:

I lead the strategic and operational delivery of programmes that grow, support and sustain opportunities for children and young people in cricket across Derbyshire.

Why did you want to work at Derbyshire Cricket Foundation?

I first started as a Cricket Development Coach, delivering in schools, clubs and community settings which I loved. Through the years I worked my way up to a Club and Community Cricket Officer, leading our Chance to Shine School Programmes and being the officer for a group of cricket clubs in the north of the county, to now my new role as CDM - young people.

How do you believe you can help the DCF to achieve its aims and objectives?

I feel like me and the team that I manage live and breathe our aims and objectives. Our place-based approach to all the programmes we deliver has a real focus on empowering communities and improving lives of the young people we engage, and clear continued play pathways for everyone we engage with.

Any other information you would like to share?

I was fortunate enough to be at the 2019 World Cup Final, an emotional rollercoaster of a day!
