Emma Thatcher

Women's & Girls' Development Officer

My Job Role:

Alongside Lauren, my role is to lead the growth and delivery of inclusive cricket programmes across Derbyshire, supporting clubs, schools, and communities to increase and sustain the participation of Women and Girls in the recreational game. My focus is on Girls' participation and coaching programmes, club support, Girls' dynamos and U16 offers, providing support to the Derbyshire Junior League and leading on Girls' EEP and MCCF programmes.

Why did you want to work at Derbyshire Cricket Foundation?

I started working casually for the DCF at 18 working with pathway squads and on holiday camps. After a trip to Australia to play cricket, I returned in April 2023 to a full-time role as Cricket Development Coach working in schools and holiday programmes to provide fun inclusive sessions. Recently, I have been able to take more of a strategic role and have been working to develop girls offers across Derbyshire. The DCF is a fantastic place and allows me to work a fantastic and passionate team with one goal.

How do you believe you can help the DCF to achieve its aims and objectives?

I am passionate about providing opportunities for girls across Derbyshire because I was one of those girls. The growth in the girls game has been incredible with more than 40 clubs now offering girls only activities. This is something I am keen to develop to allow girls to believe cricket is a game for them and reach the DCF's aim to make sure cricket is #AGameForEveryone
